Recently, the future of this institution has been jeopardized by complex permit requirements and administrative hurdles that threaten to displace our celebration from its traditional grounds.

The current dispute centers on evolving City requirements that have placed an undue burden on organizers. While the City cites standard safety and logistical protocols, the community has observed a pattern of inconsistent application that disproportionately impacts cultural events led by Black organizations.
